NSW, ACT sales manager for Nord
As part of an ongoing expansion, Nord Drivesystems Australia has appointed Eddie Sandys sales manager for New South Wales and ACT, effective immediately.
Eddie Sandys has spent over 30 years representing helical geared motor manufacturers in Australia.
“A gearcutter and fitter by trade, Eddie brings a lifetime of helical geared motor manufacturing and sales experience to the Nord Drivesystems’ team,” said Mark Alexander, sales director, Nord Drivesystems Australia.
“Eddie has worked extensively with industries utilizing helical gearboxes and associated products, and has earned considerable respect in the sector. He has successfully developed and serviced major customers including original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and major end-users in mining and ports.”
Nord Drivesystems is 100% owned and operated by Getriebebau Nord GmbH of Barteheide, Germany.
During 2009, Nord Drivesystems commenced operations in Australia with the installation of its first helical geared motor assembly plant located in Melbourne. The company said it has a 24 hour, 7 days per week after hour’s service for all emergency replacements and spare parts.
Since its formation in 1965, Getriebebau Nord GmbH has become one of the major manufacturers of helical geared motors internationally, and all of the company’s helical gearbox and frequency inverter products are exclusively of German manufacture.
Getriebebau Nord manufactures the Unicase helical gear range of inline gear units, parallel gear units, helical bevel gear units, helical worm gear units, and worm reduction gearboxes for power requirement up to 250,000 Nm.
According to Mark Alexander, the company’s helical gear units offer a wide range of options to both simplify installation and enhance ultimate gearbox life. These include solid output shaft, hollow output shaft, torque arms, output flanges, safety covers, and exterior paint options. “Getriebebau Nord also manufactures a range of heavy industrial bevel helical gear units and helical inline gear units, presently up to 250,000 Nm, with a major expansion of this product range being implemented within the next two years,” said Mr Alexander The company’s electronics division manufactures frequency inverter products from a manufacturing plant in Aurich, Germany. The frequency inverter product range consists of a wide range of application-orientated frequency inverters for switching cabinets up to 160 kW. Nord also manufactures a range of de-centralized frequency inverter products up to 7.5kW, complete with optional IP66 protection, for direct mounting on the company’s electric motors.
