Recent advances in bulk materials handling – a UK perspective

This paper focuses on providing an overview of various advances made in bulk materials handling practice in the United Kingdom in recent years.

As such, it covers a wide range of topics, including the development of new
materials characterisation techniques and predictive process models for reducing the adverse impact of bulk materials handling on product quality, the development of an on-line flow property measurement technique for coals in steel and power plant, the impact of mixing biomass products with coals to fire power generation plant, as well as a new look at predicting the loads exerted by bulk materials in storage bins on extractive belt feeders.
