Aurecon Hatch scoops PACE Zenith Awards
Aurecon, in joint venture with Hatch, won Project of the Year at the annual PACE Zenith Awards in Melbourne for the coal export terminal control system it supplied to the Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group.
The NCIG system also won the Power, Transport and Infrastructure category for Australian automation projects.
Aurcon Hatch’s brief on the project was to provide an automation solution for the coal terminal’s infrastructure, which would allow a minimum staff of 50 to operate and maintain the plant.
This required a high level of automation, extensive diagnostics and condition monitoring, first up alarm system and integration of data between the controls and corporate systems. Implementation was in a fast track schedule.
Aurecon said the control system’s motor control centres are bus controlled and fitted with advanced multifunction protection relays. VSD’s and HV switchgear are also bus interfaced and controlled.
