Jacobs is eyeing Australia's need for infrastructure development.

The acquisition is part of a wider push by the company to grow its slice of local infrastructure development.

Jacobs expects to finalise the Lend Lease acquisition by August 2012. The company said it will continue to operate the business, which employs about 50 people, from its Sydney offices.

Jacobs has more than 900 employees in Australia and has offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
