GW Engineers, based in New South Wales with projects internationally and Australia-wide, provides engineering design services to the mining, heavy industrial and waste management sectors.

Greg Steele, managing director of Hyder Consulting Australasia, said the acquisition is an important step in Hyder Consulting’s growth into the buoyant resources sector.

“We are delighted to welcome GW Engineers to the Hyder Consulting family. Not only will GW Engineers bring 50 professionals with multi-disciplinary capabilities and management skills, they also bring close working relationships with major clients and partners in the resources sector.

“Equally, Hyder Consulting can now offer GW Engineers’ clients increased levels of design, planning services and in-house engineering capabilities.”

GW Engineers director Graham Wall stated, “This is a significant event for GW Engineers in looking to the future. Through our high quality service we have developed strong relationships with our clients, many who operate internationally. Merging with Hyder Consulting will not only enable us to expand our geographical offering to these clients but offer a more comprehensive and enhanced range of services, particularly in the areas of bulk materials handling, project management services and civil infrastructure.”

Graham Wall, Gene Zemaitis and Allan Rose, directors of GW Engineers, will continue to occupy key roles within Hyder Consulting.

Going forward, GW Engineers will be known as GW Hyder but will continue to operate as GW Engineers Australia Pty Limited as part of the Hyder Consulting group of companies.

Hyder Consulting is a multi-national design consultancy active in property, transport, water and resources. It employs 4,000 people across Australia, East Asia, UK, Middle East and Germany.
