Skako’s asynchronous mixing principle.

Skako Concrete manufactures concrete batching equipment and production solutions aimed at reducing the cost of concrete for ready-mix and precast applications.

The company was formed in 1984 with the merger of Skako A/S of Denmark and Couvrot S.A. of France.

Skako’s concrete mixer series is based around an asynchronous mixing principle. This works by means of a planetary gearbox driving one or more rapidly rotating sets of mixer shovels around the mixer pan in a cyclic motion against the flow.

“The planetary movement of the mixer shovels, their angles and speed of rotation are optimised to lift in an efficient and very fast mixing of the materials, without dead zones,” explained Richard Sagar of Ammermann Partners.

“The asynchronous mixing principle ensures an optimal mixing of even the most difficult concrete types which would not be mixed as homogeneously by other mixing principles.

“Based on this Skako’s counter-current mixers ensure the production of high quality homogenous concrete such as the popular Super Workable Concrete.”
