Conference producer IIR is holding a week of bulk handling and conveyor events from 18 to 21 June in Brisbane.

Materials Handling Week (MHW) incorporates three longstanding and previously separate events. Bulk Materials Handling, Conveyors and Dust Management Strategies will be co-located at the Brisbane Hilton, packing the week with a diversity of keynote speakers, workshops and case studies.

Three workshops feature in the MHW program and will be led by a range of industry experts, including Emeritus Professor Alan Roberts, founder of Tunra Bulk Solids, Associate Professor Peter Wypych of Wollongong University and Dr Leong Mar of DuPont Technology Centre.

Topics up for examination are modern design of bulk materials handling plants, dust hazard management and mitigation, and conveyor transfer chute design.

The three previously separate conferences will each run its own stream of talks around the workshops. Featuring in the Bulk Material Handling stream is a case study on PT Kaltim Prima Coal’s supply chain in Indonesia.

Steve Davis, principal advisor material handling engineering at Rio Tinto will deliver the keynote Conveyors address titled Living With Conveyors. John Planner, director Introspec Consulting, will fill a similar role in the Dust Management Strategies stream, with his talk Sustainable Management of Dust Emission During Transport of Coal and Iron Ore.
