Famson to join Ahrens at BULKEX ‘09
For the first time, Famson will be attending a major exhibition as part of Ahrens Materials Handling, to showcase its range of grain conveying equipment to the Australian grain and fertiliser industries.
Inghams feedmill and grain storage facility in New Zealand
F.A. Miller and Son, which produces the Famson range of products, was purchased by Ahrens in 2007 and has continued to develop a broad range of hoppers, conveyors shifters and bunker storage, as well as a drive over hopper stacker.
The Ahrens/Famson stand at BULKEX will include a working model of a conveyor, as well as case studies and photographs of completed materials handling projects in Australia and overseas. Recent examples include Grassdale Feedmill and Graincorp Container Packing facility, both in Queensland, and Inghams Feedmill and Grain Storage facility in New Zealand.
Ahrens says it is rapidly becoming one of Australia’s leading suppliers of materials handling facilities.
“By utilising our internal design and construction services, as well as Webster silos from M&S and other equipment from Sherwell, we have recently completed some of the largest and most modern feedmills, storage buildings and commodity sheds in Australia,” explained Graham Dalgleish, divisional manager, Ahrens Materials Handling.
“Ahrens provides the total solution for materials handling and storage projects through a D&C package which covers all aspects of the job including engineering disciplines, steel fabrication, site construction through to installation and commissioning of electrical, mechanical and plant equipment.”
As well as having access to several inter-linked rural divisions (Sherwell, M&S and Famson), Ahrens fabricates its own steel in a new steel manufacturing facility in South Australia. This includes a shot blast and paint facility for single and multi-coat paint systems.
“Not only is Ahrens Steel supplying structural steel for its own D&C construction projects, the new factory also produces tapered web beams, which reduce steel usage by up to 30 per cent, with associated cost and environmental benefits,” said Mr Dalgleish.
Tapered web beams are well suited to the construction of large, low-rise buildings, such as warehouses and storage facilities, and will be used by Ahrens to produce custom-engineered buildings suitable to a wide range of applications.
Ahrens and Famson will be located at stand 34-35 at BULKEX ’09; Graham Dalgleish and Frank Miller will be on hand to discuss visitors’ material handling requirements.
