ContiTech to buy Metso plant

ContiTech’s conveyor belt group is buying a Metso “special
belt operations” plant in Germany which manufactures Flexowell
and Pocketlift conveyor belts.
These are primarily used in the mining, chemical and steel
industries to transport loose bulk material up steep inclines.
With Pocketlift, power transfer is achieved by two narrow
steel cord belts which are connected with rigid triangular cross
bars.
The material to be conveyed is fed into the fabric reinforced
rubber pockets, which are bolted at the center of the cross bars
and can be assembled and disassembled individually. The performance
range of the system allows a high conveying capacity
over great heights.
The patented shape of the pockets makes all hinges unnecessary
and the pockets can carry material with capacities of up to
5.000 m³/h.
ContiTech will continue manufacturing and engineering at
the Metso plant, which is based at Moers in Germany and employs
60 people.
