Resometric Beltweigher and ultraMOIST
Ultra-Dynamics of Queensland will be pushing two systems at BULKEX: the Procon Inflo Resometric belt weigher and the ultraMOIST microwave moisture monitor.
The main components of the Resometric Beltscale.
Resometric belt weigher technology originated in Australia some years ago before migrating to the UK under the Inflo banner. Since that time the technology has found global acceptance.
More recently, Procon Engineering – one of the UK’s leading process weighing and control companies – took over the technology, with Ultra-Dynamics distributing the product locally.
According to Ultra-Dynamics, at the heart of the Resometric Beltweigher is the digital resometric force transducer or resonator which provides high levels of measurement performance, repeatable for many years. The resonator has no moving parts and is pre-loaded to a standard level by the applied force from the weigh carriage.
The resonant frequency changes in proportion to applied load passing over the carriage rollers. This change in frequency is processed by the electronics and combined with the belt travel speed (as measured by the tachometer) to provide an accurate weight reading per unit time.
Turning to Ultra-Dynamics’s other major BULKEX product, moisture measurement has always been an important process parameter.
Traditionally this has been carried out using the conventional laboratory analysis of a manual sample. However, according to Ultra-Dynamics, the ultraMOIST On-Belt moisture measurement system allows accurate measurement of moisture in realtime.
The information can be used in a number of ways including: in metallurgical/process accounting; product net weight monitoring; diverting excessively moist material away from vulnerable downstream processes; product moisture contract compliance; feedback control to a dryer circuit; quality control compliance; feed forward/back control to spray bars.
